Fixing text typed with Caps Lock on
Everyone has done it: a paragraph typed or pasted in capitals and no wish to retype it. Sentence case puts the text back to normal. The first letter of each sentence is a capital and the rest is lowercase, so THE MEETING HAS MOVED. PLEASE TELL THE TEAM. becomes ordinary sentences.
How to use it
Paste the text into the box above. Sentence case is already selected, so the result shows underneath at once. Copy it, then read it through once, because a converter cannot know which words should stay capitalised.
What you get back
| You type | Sentence case result |
|---|---|
THE MEETING HAS MOVED. PLEASE TELL THE TEAM. | The meeting has moved. Please tell the team. |
WHY IS CAPS LOCK ON? I DID NOT PRESS IT! | Why is caps lock on? I did not press it! |
WE FLY TO LONDON ON MONDAY | We fly to london on monday |
DEAR MR SMITH, | Dear mr smith, |
What still needs a quick edit
Once the text is lowercase, the converter has no way to tell which words were meant to be capitalised. Check these after converting:
- Names and places such as London or Mr Smith.
- Days and months, which are capitalised in English.
- Acronyms such as NASA or VAT, which should stay in capitals.
For a title or heading, use the title case converter instead, which capitalises the important words. For code names such as user_first_name, see the snake_case and camelCase converters.
Why not just retype it?
For two lines, retyping is quicker. For a long email, a pasted transcript, an old database export or a document that arrived in capitals, converting takes seconds and avoids new typing mistakes.

- How do I change ALL CAPS back to normal text?
- Paste the text into the box on this page. Sentence case is already selected, so it is converted straight away.
- Will it fix names and places?
- No. Once text is in lowercase the converter cannot know which words were capitalised, so check names, places, days, months and acronyms afterwards. A standalone I is capitalised for you.
- What is the difference between sentence case and title case?
- Sentence case capitalises only the first word of each sentence. Title case capitalises the main words of a heading.
- Does it work on several paragraphs?
- Yes. Paste as much as you like and each sentence is handled in turn.
- Is my text kept?
- No. Everything happens in your browser and nothing is uploaded.
