What toggle case does
Toggle case, also called inverse case or swap case, flips every letter to its opposite. Capitals become lowercase and lowercase becomes capitals: Hello World turns into hELLO wORLD.
The classic use: Caps Lock was on
If you typed a sentence with Caps Lock on and the shift key reversed the capitals, the text comes out upside down, like hELLO, tHIS IS WRONG. Pasting it here and toggling the case gives you the sentence you meant to type.
How to use it
Paste your text into the box above. Toggle case (shown as sWaP cAsE) is already selected, so the result appears below. Copy it from there. Toggle again by pasting the result back in, and you get the original text.

Toggle case compared with the other cases
- Toggle case reverses each letter, wherever it was.
- Alternating case follows a fixed pattern, one capital then one lowercase, whatever the starting letters were.
- Uppercase to lowercase and lowercase to uppercase force every letter one way.
Things to know
- Only the letters A to Z are toggled. Numbers, punctuation and spaces stay as they are.
- Words that mix capitals, such as iPhone, are flipped letter by letter, so check the result if you need names to look right.
- For a whole paragraph that is simply in capitals, convert ALL CAPS to sentence case instead.

- What is toggle case?
- It swaps the case of every letter: capitals become lowercase and lowercase letters become capitals. It is also called inverse case or swap case.
- How do I fix text typed with Caps Lock on?
- If the capitals came out reversed, paste it here with toggle case selected. If it is all capitals, use the ALL CAPS to sentence case page.
- What happens to numbers and punctuation?
- They are left as they are. Only letters change.
- Can I undo it?
- Yes. Toggle the result again and you get the original text back, or press Undo.
- Does it change accented letters?
- The swap applies to the letters A to Z. Accented letters are left as typed, so check the result.
